Position Overview: The role of Director of Construction at Sendero Energy Services involves overseeing and coordinating the construction activities of various renewable energy projects, including wind farms, solar farms, carbon capture, and biodiesel facilities. The Director of Construction will be responsible for ensuring all required documentation is prepared and submitted to Sendero Energy Services’ EPC clients. They should have a comprehensive understanding of the processes and systems involved in managing diverse projects and clients with varying portfolios. This role will support the senior leadership team of Sendero Energy Services in making informed decisions about projects. Responsibilities include providing accurate estimates of daily production, projected completion schedules, and cost-to-complete data in a professional and trustworthy manner. The Director of Construction should possess the necessary skills and abilities to drive success in renewable energy construction.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership to operations teams (both office and field) in all project construction activities.
  • Lead the operations team in reviewing estimated quantities and scope of work.
  • Develop and implement project estimating strategies.
  • Review and approve project construction schedules for feasibility and accuracy.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to optimize project budgets, fees, and margins.
  • Ensure financial health of projects by meeting or optimizing construction budgets.
  • Manage operations crew workload to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Make final recommendations regarding project financials, including buyout, fees, and contingency.
  • Develop and provide man-hour work schedules to EPC clients.
  • Develop and provide monthly invoices to EPC clients with required supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and present monthly project risk assessments to Sendero senior leadership.
  • Review and understand project contract terms and conditions to address risk issues proactively.
  • Validate potential value engineering items, alternatives, and options for project optimization.
  • Assess estimate clarifications and assumptions for accuracy and validity.
  • Review project documents to identify and address scope gaps or overlaps.
  • Train and mentor both office and field staff.
  • Lead risk review processes with internal and external clients.
  • Ensure all necessary bonds and insurance requirements are met and within budget.
  • Oversee subcontractor selection and the buy-out process.
  • Review and approve specialty and heavy equipment pricing and delivery schedules.
  • Verify subcontractor purchase orders and insurance compliance.
  • Present project estimates to internal and external clients.
  • Make final recommendations regarding fees, contingency, and escalation.
  • Foster a team-oriented work environment.
  • Be adaptable and responsive to additional duties as assigned by Senior Leadership.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Minimum of 8 years of direct project estimating experience for renewable energy infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively, think creatively and analytically, and make sound decisions quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, HeavyBid, PlanSwift, and/or OST is preferred.
  • OSHA 10-hour safety certification required.
